AC Repair & Diagnostics in Hollywood & Broward County

Not cooling, leaking, noisy or short-cycling? Alex finds the real cause, explains it clearly in English or Spanish, and gives you your options and the price before any work starts.

When an air conditioner quits in South Florida, it’s more than uncomfortable. Indoor humidity climbs fast, and a system that keeps struggling can turn a small problem into a bigger repair. Alex Cejas has worked in HVAC for 15 years. On every repair call he finds the real cause, explains it in plain language, and gives you your options and the price before any work starts.

Cejas Cooling is Hollywood-based and repairs air conditioning in single-family homes and commercial units across Broward County, from Hollywood and Dania Beach to Fort Lauderdale, Plantation and Coral Springs.

AC problems we diagnose and repair

  • AC running but blowing warm or barely cool air
  • Water leaking from the indoor unit, a clogged condensate drain line or a system that shut itself off because of a full drain pan
  • Ice on the refrigerant lines or the indoor coil
  • Short-cycling (turning on and off too often), or a system that won’t turn on at all
  • Buzzing, clicking, grinding or rattling from the outdoor unit
  • Low- and high-voltage electrical problems
  • A thermostat that doesn’t seem to control the system
  • Rooms that won’t cool evenly, or energy bills that keep climbing

Why air conditioners break down in South Florida

Air conditioners here work harder and longer than in most of the country. These local conditions come up again and again on repair calls:

  • A long cooling season. Systems run most of the year, so wear on motors, capacitors and contactors adds up faster.
  • Humidity and drain lines. Your AC pulls a lot of moisture out of the air. Warm, damp drain lines are a natural place for algae and sludge to build up, which can back up, cause leaks or shut the system down.
  • Salt air near the coast. In coastal cities like Hollywood, Dania Beach, Hallandale Beach, Fort Lauderdale and Pompano Beach, salt slowly corrodes coils, copper and electrical connections. Coastal-proofing helps slow that damage.
  • Storms and power surges. Summer storms and hurricane season (June 1 to November 30) bring outages and surges that are hard on electrical parts.

How a repair visit works

  1. Call, text or request online. Tell us what’s happening. Alex will call or text to confirm a time. An online request isn’t booked until you hear from us.
  2. Diagnosis. The diagnostic fee is $120–$160. Alex tests the system to find the actual cause instead of guessing or swapping parts.
  3. Clear options and pricing. You get a plain explanation of what’s wrong and what each option costs before any work begins. No pressure and no upsell.
  4. Repair and follow-up. Once you approve, the repair gets done, and you get a written follow-up after the visit.

Quick checks before you call

These are safe to try and can save you a visit:

  • Make sure the thermostat is set to Cool with the temperature set below the room temperature. Replace the thermostat batteries if it uses them.
  • Check the breakers for both the indoor and outdoor units.
  • Look at the air filter. A badly clogged filter restricts airflow and can even cause the coil to freeze.
  • If you see ice on the lines or coil, switch the system off and call. Running a frozen system can make the problem worse.
  • If water is overflowing, turn the system off to limit water damage, then call or text.

Not sure if the repair is worth it on an older system? See AC installation & replacement, or ask for a second opinion on a quote you already have.
